About The Event
The event is an opportunity to [re]visit a site with special significance for my father's family: Sint Petruskerk. I bring with me from New Zealand my daughter Elise, and grandchildren Darcy and Finn, artifacts and photos from our shared history, and the book I have written. - Bernardine Vester née Stynman.
The book's opening chapters highlight the lives of four Stijnman ancestors: Margareta Lommerse; her son Theodorus (Dirk) Stijnman; Bernardina van Bohemen; and Frans Stijnman, who migrated to New Zealand in 1952. Part 2 of the book traces the Coster-van Riet links; Part 3 checks out the migration story. A colour insert honours the family bakery tradition - with a kiwi lens on Dutch recipes. It's in English - but I hope I have given it sufficient Dutch flavour for Dutch family readers!
